The Face of the Enemy, II

This is not a photoshop. Just a standard display of what passes for a "Religion", and one of "Peace" at that.

Hamas Leader speaks openly and publicly about what to expect in the future

With ugly guys like these:
Chaled Mash'al (left) und Hassan Nasrallah, head of Hizbollah.

"The Nation of Islam Will Sit at the Throne of the World and the West Will Be Full of Remorse When It Is Too Late."

This is Hamas' Chaled Mash'al's open and unveiled prediction, uttered at the beginning of February in a Damascus mosque.

Please watch this Windows-Media-Stream... and don't complain about not having been warned ...

Why We Love Yaacov Lozowick

"The Palestinians are still actively seeking the reversal of 1948, and Israel is still expected somehow to recompense the Palestinians for the crime of having won a war that was forced upon her - and fairly won."

Why We Love P.J. O'Rourke

From his remarkable Peace Kills:

"During a question-and-answer period Clinton said he supported the creation of a Palestinian state. It's a good idea. Islamic fundamentalists will need someplace to go.

Having them all in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip would allow the War on Terror to be conducted in a compact area with well-mapped terrain and an excellent road system.

As long as the Israelis don't get involved. We wouldn't want anybody on our side who was guilty of premature antiterrorism."

Like a Hurricane

Just in case we needed any more reasons to be thankful for President George W. Bush - here it is: US Prepares Military Blitz Against Iran's Nuclear Sites.

And since the wait might be long and agonizing, why not get to know some of the key actors a bit more closely?

A. The incomparable B2

B. One of many Los Angeles-Class nuclear submarines, the delightfully named USS Annapolis

C. Since any Naval operation calls for great surface ships, how about a nice Arleigh Burke-Class Guided Destroyer? And since we're at it, why not the USS Roosevelt?

D. The ultimate force for good in this world

How to Be a GREAT Mideast Correspondent

For all our readers who can speak (or read) German, this is one of the best parodies on the Mainstream Media's slanted Mideast coverage that I have ever come across. All the usual substitutes for thought, from the "cycle of violence" to the "extremists on both sides" canard, are covered.

A MUST-READ!

Cartoons

I'll just give my 2 cents on this whole fiasco:

I'm a (reasonably) observant Catholic. I go to church every week. I'm also a conservative politically and have great reverence for all religions. These cartoons published in Denmark depict the prophet Mohammed, even though depicting him is a grave disrespect to Islam. Its beyond me why someone would do it. If my home the UK was still devout Christian and someone in Syria drew Jesus Christ dropping bombs from a US plane - even that would not come close to creating a comparison to describe the offense some people were caused by this. When your life is your religion, these things matter. The cartoons are offensive, and they're embarrasing to me.

But now, such as the world we live in, it is my duty to defend these cartoons. You do not have a right not to be offended. Here in the West, the protection of freedom is, as Lord Acton said, not the most important role of government - it is the role of government. Freedom is what we are. I can assure all the thugs and terrorists that burned embassies and threatened others with death over the weekend that we take this very seriously here.

You will not intimidate us. We are drawing the line right in the sand now. Protest if you must; but you must respect our values of liberal democracy wherever you are in the world, and if you plan to live in Europe, you must live by them. No compromise.

We've posted the cartoons on this blog (cheers FDR) and I urge a British newspaper to step forward and publish them. You do not have to condone the depiction of Mohammed. You do not even have to support the underlying political message in the cartoons.

You must publish them because you can.

The Face of the Enemy

"This is not a time to get wobbly"

Thus spoke the great Baroness Thatcher to George H.W. Bush in 1990. Her words are still as true as ever.

Hence my decision not to wobble, but rather to charge ahead at full speed:
