Well said...

If the occupation was the cause of terrorism, why was terrorism sparse during the years of actual occupation, why did it increase dramatically with the prospect of the end of the occupation, and why did it escalate into open war upon Israel's most far-reaching concessions ever?

It never was the occupation. It was the ideology of anti-freedom and anti-democracy that exists in portions of the Middle East. Notice when Clinton did not pursue agressivley Al-Quieda, we were attacked several times? We can't respond with peace or a withdrawl if we want to succeed in the Middle East.
